Chimaeron

Introduction

Once upon a time, there was a sign in front of Chimaerons room. It said “Yo dawg. I put a dog in your dog, so now you can dog when you dog!”. Maloriak thought that his latest creation was both witty and powerful, so only a meme could do it justice. People from around the world came to BWD to watch the famous sign, and bask in its greatness.

It was later taken down for making no sense.

…also because Chimaeron couldn’t eat anymore visitors.

Role-Specific Tactics

Tank: Contemplate big things. Then get eaten. Durr..

DPS: Focus on doing as much DPS as possible. Apart from the movement to group up in P2 and spread out in P1, you don’t need to worry about anything but doing high damage.

Healer: Conserve your mana as much as you can while still keeping everyone alive. Healing anyone over 10k (apart from the off-tank) in phase 1 is a complete waste of time & mana, so learn to resist the urge. Try to configure your addons to give you an edge, as you’ll certainly need it.

Strategy

A simple fight in theory, but can be a bit dicey to pull off. Everything hinges on proper movement and healer skill.

Description

The fight has two phases, which alternate, and a burn phase near the end. The boss will be sleeping in the middle of the room, with a locked cage behind him.
If you just attack the boss right away, he’ll insta-kill the whole raid in a few seconds. Instead talk to Finkle Einhorn inside the cage to activate a small bot that sprays the whole room with a gas that will prevent you from dying from any attack as long as you have at least 10k HP left. This ability will show as a buff. If you ever go below 10K whilst having this buff, you’ll get a debuff that warns you that you’re low on HP and will die from attacks like normal.

In Phase 1 Chimaeron will throw around balls of “Caustic Slime” on random raid members that explodes for ridiculous amounts of damage, and has an AoE splash of 5 yards (shareable). He’ll also unload heavy attacks on the tank, with an occasional special “double attack” that does exactly what its name implies.

Additionally, he’ll occasionally debuff the tank with “Break” to lower its armor and decrease its healing done (yes, you’re reading that correctly. healing done BY the tank. Weird, huh?), as well as casting his room-wide AoE “Massacre” (1-shot killing damage to all)

In Phase 2, which will occur randomly after a “Massacre”, the bot will get temporarily disabled and the protective buff will dissapear. The boss’ two heads will also start fighting eachother with “Feud”, stopping all melee attacks and rooting him in place. The slime balls will STILL come, however.
After “Feud” has stopped channeling, the boss will cast a new “Massacre” and return to P1. The bot will come back online just in time to protect you from the blast.

In Phase 3, at around 20%, all healing is reduced by 99%, but he’ll stop using abilities as well.

Tactics

This is a healer fight. Everything will hinge on them, and their decisions on how to spend their mana is what matters most.

In phase 1, everyone spreads out at least 6 yards from eachother; Healers in center, closest to the tanks. Whenever anyone drops down below 10k HP, heal him back up to just above that number. Any HP above 10k is completely wasted, since the next attack will always reduce the person to 1 HP anyway.

Healers are recommended to setup their GRID (or similar addon) to show alerts based on the debuff a player gets when below 10k so they can easily tell if someone needs a heal or not.

Tanking should be set up so that 1 tank takes care of the normal attacks and his “Break” debuff, whilst the other tank quickly taunts the boss off him to eat the “double attack” whenever it comes off cooldown (there is a warning when its about to cast). This off-tank is the exception to the “keep just above 10k” rule, as he’ll need to be topped off to survive the “double attack”.

In phase 2, EVERYONE in the raid, including tanks & healers, must all extremely quickly gather in one spot (an ideal spot is just behind the maintank, near the healers). With the protection buff gone, all the incoming slimes will have to be healed through, so everyone bunch together and healers spam your heaviest AoE heals to bring everyone up as fast as you can. Since the slimes do shareable damage, the only way to live through this phase is to do this. All who are not healers can continue to attack the boss while bunched.

As soon as “Feud” ends and the boss starts casting “Massacre” once more, QUICKLY spread out again to your original positions and resume the fight as per Phase 1.

When the boss hits ca 20%, tanks burn CDs to stay alive as long as you can, while everyone else (including healers) DPS the boss like they really mean it. Save Heroism for this part.
