After Supremus and a room full of demons we managed to reach the Ashtongue camp who gave us the order to support Akama in the fight to free his soul – The Shade of Akama.
The goal of this fight is pretty simple. Free Akama’s soul by killing the channelers who hold it in place. Once the soul reaches Akama, he’ll tank it and you can help destroy it. During the fight multiple adds will run into the room from both the west and the east entrance and try to stop you. You will have to maintain a balance between killing the adds and killing the channelers so you don’t get stuck in this fight forever.
Abilities
The Shade itself has no abilities but the adds that join the fight will keep you busy. In the fight, the following mobs will add:
- Ashtongue Defender: Runs straight to Akama and tries to kill him. Features only melee abilities and is more a tank than DPS.
- Ashtongue Spiritbinder: The healer in each add wave. Has highest priority in killing. Features multiple healing spells to keep his combatants alive.
- Ashtongue Elementalist: The caster in each add wave. Features a rain of fire AoE (Move out of the bad stuff!) and a lightning bolt.
- Ashtongue Rogue: The melee DPS in each add wave. Has poisons to slow your melee attacks.
Class requirements
You should have at least 3 tanks (one able to tank multiple mobs) for the adds and a good amout of DPS classes.
The pull
The pull will be done by any raid member (preferably not one of the tanks) by talking to Akama at the entrance of the room. So, please!, don’t talk to Akama before the raid is ready.
Positions and strategy
We have 2 entrances to the room, at the west side and at the east side. At each side, one tank will be prepared to tank the incoming add waves. The third tank will place himself where Akama starts channeling his soul drain. 3 range DPS will be assigned to each side (west and east) to help kill of the adds. The rest of the DPS will be at the channelers position to wtfpwn them as soon as the fight begins.

The channelers won’t fight back, so you don’t need to worry about any damage taken, but there will be a steady flow of new Ashtongue Sorcerers that take the place of slain channeler. Your goal is to kill them all faster than they respawn. Use all damage buffs you have available! Once the Shade is hold by 3 or less channeler/sorcerer he will slowly move to Akama.
On each side, waves of 3 adds will spawn in less than 1 minute intervals: 1x Rogue, 1x Healer and 1x Mage. Your kill order is to get the healer down quickly, then proceed with the mage and then kill the rogue last. You may want to move out of the Rain of Fire on each side as this does tremendous damage, even on the tank!
Next to those waves, single Ashtongue Defender and Ashtongue Sorcerer will spawn. The tanks on the side, don’t worry about those. The defenders will run to Akama and will be picked up by the tank standing there, ready and waiting. The sorcerer will engage the shade and try to slow it down. He doesn’t attack and will be killed off by the other DPS.
As soon as the shade engages Akama (you can target it at that moment) the adds will stop to spawn and all the tanks will tank the remaining Ashtongue Defender in the middle. Help your fellow tank and taunt as many of him as possible. You will fight appromixmately 6 Defender. The whole raid will kill the defenders and then kill off the shade.
Akama will put a debuff on the shade that increases his damage taken by 5% each stack, so by the time you attack him, he should already take 50% more damage and can be zerged down easily.
As you can see, the fight doesn’t require much. If you are at the sides, keep a cool head and kill off the adds one after another. If you are on the channeler, do as much damage as you can and free the shade. If you are tanking in the middle, make sure you don’t lose any of the defenders.
Manage this and victory will be yours!
