Maexxna

Spiders! Everywhere! My gosh! And I thought calling this Spider Wing was just a joke to keep intruders away.. like the Temple of Death. Well, now we are in front of the last boss in this ‘Spider Wing’ and we ain’t backin’ down. Not us!

Abilities

Poison Shock (Nature) – Spits poison on everyone in front of her. Stay behind the boss if you ain’t tanking!
Web Spray (Nature) – Sprays everyone in the raid and thus stunning them for 6 seconds. Doesn’t matter where you stand, it will still catch you.
Web Wrap (Nature) – Sprays a target into a cocoon, stunning him and dealing damage until the cocoon is destroyed.
Necrotic Poison (Debuff) – Reduces healing on a target by 75%, will be applied by little spiders and Maexxna herself. Usually only affects the MT.
Frenzy (Buff) – Increases the caster’s attack speed by 50% and the Physical damage it deals by 75% for 10 min. Your tank will take a good bunch more damage.

Class requirements

You may want to have 2 people (one for each cocoon) with range attacks for the cocoons. No further requirements.

The pull

The pull will be done by the MT who will then tank Maexxna either facing the door or the wall on the opposite side. The raid force will position themselves behind the boss to not get caught in the Poison Shock.

Positions and strategy

As said above, the raid will position itself behind Maexxna and give her hell as quickly as possible. During the fight, Maexxna will summon little spiders below her belly that need to be killed quickly. A working tactic is to have one prot warrior use Shockwave as soon as they have spawned, stunning them in place and let them get killed by the raid.

Maexxna will also stun the raid every 40 seconds with her Web Spray. The healers need to be aware of this and have the MT in top shape before he gets stunned, as he usually can’t mitigate much damage when being stunned.

Another nuisance to this fight is Maexxna’s Web Wrap. She will spin 2 players into a cocoon and toss them towards the walls where they will stay until freed. People with good range burst damage take care to free those people wrapped. They will be appointed by the raid leader before the fight.

At around 25% health, Maexxna gets frenzied and her damage increases by a lot. At this point, an unlucky Web Spray can get your MT killed, so healers and tanks need to be aware of the time left for the next Web Spray. The boss can be taunted, so if the MT goes down, another OT may be able to take the boss before she rapes your raid.

Normal Difficulty

In normal difficulty only one person gets wrapped into a cocoon.
