The pull
The MT will run in, stayin' slightly to the southern side of the room to try and position the General in the middle of the room.
Positions and strategy
The raid will position itself around the general, evenly, while the melee dps will stay behind the boss.
The two most important parts in this fight are:
- Interrupt the Searing Flames whenever cast. Make yourself an interrupt rotation with other characters. This. Is. Important.
- Do not heal the boss with Mark of the Faceless. As soon as you got the debuff, run away from the raid members. You won't take damage so you can run away from the healers.
Also try to not get hit by the Shadow Crash, it needs some time until it reaches you, so you should be able to do some side steps.
As mana regeneration doesn't work in this fight, you will need to break the Saronite Nodes spawning during the encounter. They will leave a green field that works like a Life Tap if you stand inside. You get a stacking debuff and with each stack you transfer health into mana. As soon as you step out, the effect wears off. So make sure you watch your health closely and do not die on the transfer. You should aim for 6-7 stacks and then leave the field quickly.
The tank will need to kite the boss around whenever he starts casting his Surge of Darkness. What works best is to use a warrior and Intervene to a friendly unit standing in the direction of a Saronite Node.
When the kiting is over, a Node close to the boss will be broken so that the healers can stand in it. During the kite, melee dps needs to be awake and follow the General around to interrupt the Searing Flames.
Be aware that Shadow Crashes and Mark of the Faceless won't be casted on people in melee range as long as their are sufficient targets away from the boss. You can use this behaviour to have your healers stay close to the boss to allow for uninterrupted casting.
There's only a total of 8 Saronite Nodes in this fight, so try to only break one at a time.
Normal Difficulty
No difference in the tactic.
